What this is
About Instant Hot Water Heater Installation
This is a comfort upgrade, not a repair. An on-demand (tankless) heater warms water as it flows, so back to back showers and dish duty no longer drain a small tank.
We look at the space your current heater sits in, talk through what the swap involves, and fit the new on-demand unit at your rig.
What the job covers
- Measuring the existing heater compartment
- Talking through gas, power and venting for the new unit
- Removing the tank style heater
- Fitting and testing the on-demand unit
What to expect on the visit
- 1We measure the compartment and check the connections
- 2You learn how the new unit will be controlled
- 3The old tank comes out and the new unit goes in
- 4We run hot water at each faucet with you
How to prevent it
- Flush the unit as its manual recommends to limit scale
- Keep the outside vent clear of wasp nests and debris
- Drain or protect it before a hard freeze
- Use the bypass when winterizing so antifreeze stays out of it
Signs you need this
- You plan longer trips and want endless showers
- Waiting for a tank to recover slows mornings down
- Several people share the hot water
- You want to upgrade while the old tank still works
Questions
About Instant Hot Water Heater Installation
Will an on-demand heater fit where my tank is now?
Many fit the existing opening. We measure first and tell you honestly if yours will.
Do tankless heaters work in a Northwest winter?
They work in cold weather, though very cold incoming water can lower the output temperature. We talk through how you camp.
Can I upgrade before my tank heater fails?
Yes. Many owners switch while the old one still works so they are not caught without hot water.
Will I need to change how I use hot water?
Mostly no. You turn on the tap and wait a moment for it to fire up.
